A lovely antique Australian kookaburra brooch, dating back to the early 20th century! Jewellery of nationalistic symbols based on Australia's flora and fauna were produced around this time, which also reflected the Australian federation period (1901). The rose-coloured and slightly convex oval brooch features a subtle hand engraving depicting the Australian kookaburra bird perched up on a branch... very quaint!
It is made of 9ct gold casing and silver lined - stamped "9CT SIL LINED", or sometimes referred to as rolled gold. Pin and 'C' connection on the reverse.
