A wonderful Child's Austro Hungarian enamel and seed bangle from the Victorian era, c1880! Made of silver and vitreous black enamel overlay, the charming bangle features a chased Ivy vine pattern to the top half of the bangle. Little white natural seed pearls decorate each ivy leaf motif, adding further contrast and charm to this gorgeous Antique bangle. Plain black enamel is applied to the back half of the bangle. The hinged bangle closes securely with an integrated push tongue connection. The bangle has an oval wrist shape and the inside is rounded near the edges, giving a smooth comfort fit when worn. An Austro-Hungarian hallmark can be sighted to the tongue connection; a left-facing lion with numeral '4' (denoting 750 silver fineness) and letter 'A' (indicating Wien/ Vienna Assay office). This mark was used between 1872 to 1922. There are a few additional stamps which look like an anchor motif, and likely that of the makers mark.

The bangle measures 12cm or 4 & 3/4" inches inner circumference, the size only suitable for a young child.

During the Victorian to Edwardian period the Ivy leaf motif often symbolized everlasting love, immortality, and fidelity

An endearing antique bangle which would make a unique christening gift, or keepsake gift for a young child.

The overall condition of the antique bangle is very good. There is some mild surface wear and minor nicks to the enamel (difficult to see to the naked eye), however all the pearls are intact, look all original and appear secure in their settings. The hinge and tongue clip work well with a firm snap lock. A wonderful antique bangle!
