From the late Art Deco era, circa 1940's comes this fabulous pair of expanding armbands, or armlets as they were known in bygone days! Beautifully crafted in rolled gold, the gold colour is a lovely warm antique rose hue - typically 9ct rose gold over metal.
Made to be worn above the elbow as a stylish shirt armlet, each armband features twin springs inside the links, allowing for a versatile and comfortable fit on the arm. The simple and stylish design consists of smooth and rounded elongated links 'seesawing' within an open rectangle link.
Each armband is marked "LAMBOURNES B'HAM 55". Lambournes were a notable English company producing an array of hosiers' jewellery for the dapper gent in the day. Situated at the Empire Works in Birmingham, the company was founded in 1886 and run by the Lambourne family until 1981 when they sold to become part of the Arnold Wills group.
Today, the gender-neutral fashion accessory has resurrected the trend as 'Sleeve Garters', perhaps due to David Beckham stepping out donning a pair over a shirt ...
The armbands measure around 22cm in length, unstretched, and 7mm wide.
A cool and original vintage fashion statement with functionality!
