A gorgeous statement vintage pearl brooch from the mid 20th century, c1960! Made of sterling silver, this modernist Retro brooch features eleven fine quality Japanese Akoya pearls in a three dimensional grape-esque design.
The pearls display stunning luster's, each radiates with a gorgeous glow, and their overall skin quality is near perfection - the high grade nacre indicative of older Japanese Akoya saltwater pearls. Each pearl displays a silvery cream colour with subtle rose hue, they slightly vary in size between 6.00mm - 7.00mm. The stylized brooch portrays an unsymmetrical organic grape like figure with five textured leaves sprouting from behind the pearls. The half drilled pearls rest securely on individual wires. Meandering leaf shape accents form along either side of the brooch, adding further style and dimension.
A secure revolver clasp and pin attach to the back. Stamped SILVER, the piece tests sterling silver. There is a rhodium (anti-tarnish) finish applied to the brooch, which was typical of similar Japanese pearl vintage brooches of the era.
The brooch measures 6.30cm (2 & 1/2") total length tip to tip and 3.50cm widest point across.
