This exquisite vintage brooch, crafted in the late Art Deco era circa 1940, features a captivating flower design that beautifully showcases a round cabochon solid opal at its center. Hand wrought in sterling silver, the brooch is adorned with marcasite stones, enhancing its elegance and charm.
The 7mm round Australian opal exhibits full spectral colours including red, blue, violet and green in a vibrant play-of-colour pattern. It is set within a millgrain-edged bezel, framed by a floral cut-out design with split shoulders and marcasite lined ends. Complete with a pin, revolver clasp, and safety ring, this brooch is a stunning vintage accessory for any collection.
The brooch measures 6.40cm long. No stamps can be sighted to the brooch, not unusual for vintage marcasite pieces, albeit tests confirm sterling silver. Indicative of aged sterling silver, there is a natural darkened patina on the surface, adding to its antiquity charm and character.
