A timeless vintage nephrite jade and pearl pendant necklace from the mid to late 20th century! Made of sterling silver this eye catching pendant comprises of one natural nephrite jade bordered by twelve lustrous round Akoya pearls. The nephrite jade exhibits a distinct forest green with small black chromite inclusions indicative of natural untreated nephrite material. There is a nice waxy sheen to the surface of the jade and a lovely translucency. The nephrite jade is likely either Cowell (South Australian) or New Zealand nephrite. Complementing beautifully is a halo of white cultured Akoya (saltwater) pearls which rest in cups with a wire surround for extra style. A tapered bail attaches to the pendant top, allowing for the smooth 16" snake chain to slide through. A bolt ring clasp secures the necklace, stamped 'ITALY 925' and stamps to the pendant are undecipherable, albeit tests indicate sterling silver.
The pendant measures 3.50cm total drop and 2.20cm across. The necklace measures 16" (40cm) long.

The vintage pendant presents in excellent condition. Besides general wear, the stones appear securely set and unharmed. A nice surface gleam remains on the silver chain and pendant with little tarnish at all. Clasp works well. A gorgeous vintage pendant! |
