A gorgeous antique lavalier gemstone pendant from the Art Nouveau era, c1910! Made of 9ct rosy yellow gold, this beautiful antique pendant pays tribute to the Suffragette movement, consisting of gemstone colours Green (peridot), White (seed pearls) and Violet (amethyst); the first letter of each colour G, W, V represented the suffragettes demand of "Give women the vote". Jewellery displaying these colours were often worn in support of the UK Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) in the early 20th century.
The pop of bright colours are stunning, and the combined gems were also a popular choice of colours utilised in the Edwardian period.
The lavalier pendant has graceful Art Nouveau elements of curved sinuous lines and three little seed-pearl accented floret motifs. Resting in handmade bezel collets, the amethyst is placed centrally within the design, and the peridot suspended freely at the bottom. An original elongated stylized bail attaches at the top allowing for your choice of chain to hang from. Stamped "9CT" to the reverse. The pendant measures 5cm long including bail and 2.80cm wide from widest point.
