A wonderful all original Albert equestrian novelty chain from the Edwardian era, c1910's! Made of sterling silver this unique antique chain features equestrian novelties of a riding crop and horseshoe. Both the charm novelties have indentation and engraved details giving lovely character. The solid sterling curb chain is complete with a swivel dog clip and spring clip, both original to the piece and stamped "STERLING".
The novelty charms suspend from an O ring on individual cable like chain, draping at different lengths. Both charms bear 'STERLING' stamps to the back, along with makers marks to the riding crop; "R B Co" which is that of R. Blackinton & Co. R. Blackinton & Co were a notable silversmith in North Attleboro, USA. The company was founded in 1862 and still trades today. Furthermore, the horseshoe has hand engraved script font (what appears to read) 'Gladys M Wilson' to the back, adding a nice sentiment of the bygone era.
Total length of the piece measures 35cm (13 & 1/2") inches. It could possibly be worn as a choker style necklace (depending on neck size), a double-wrap bracelet, or as a watch chain for the gentlemen.
