This exquisite mid-20th century cultured Akoya pearl necklace, dating from circa 1960, features a stunning 28-inch opera-length design, showcasing eighty-one lustrous Akoya saltwater type pearls ranging from 7.50mm to 8.00mm in size. Newly handstrung and knotted, the necklace is complemented by a beautifully crafted 14ct gold clasp adorned with a 7.14mm Akoya pearl in the center.
The Akoya pearls exhibit mid-cream colours with luminous green and pink overtones, creating a feminine elegance that gracefully adorns the neckline. Each pearl's surface luster radiates a reflective 'mirror-sharp' quality, indicative of superior nacre thickness, ensuring a sumptuous feel and opulent appearance when worn.
This versatile piece can be worn as a timeless opera-length necklace or doubled for a chic choker style, making it an ideal choice for bridal wear or a cherished addition to any pearl enthusiast's collection.
Upon purchase the vintage Akoya pearl necklace would be accompanied by a photographic valuation certificate for insurances purposes, carried out independently by a registered NCJV/FGAA valuer. *The insurance replacement value of the necklace dated 30th of September 2024 was $ 6,435 AUD.
