A wonderful early Australian bamboo style bangle from the Edwardian era, c1905! Made of 9ct rose gold the bangle has tinges of yellow which adds further depth of character to the piece. A textured pattern of swirls decorates four alternate sections of the bangle, alongside of four polished sections in a superb bamboo design. The hinged design opens at the side, fastening with a secure push tongue clasp. There is a safety chain attached for extra security. Although hollow the bangle carries a nice heft due to the inside being wax-filled, giving added durability whilst wearing. Stamped 'WAX FILLED' on the tongue clasp. The bangle also bears early Australian stamps , a 'flag' motif, '9' and the 'wheat bundle' representing Australian guarantee of quantity mark (used between 1889 - 1920's). The flag motif was used by Australian jewellery firm Aronson & Co.
A beautiful antique bamboo bangle which is increasingly harder to find. This one is such a treat, and has been well looked after. Perfect to stack with others, or just as nice worn alone!
