Here is a stunning Lighning Ridge solid black opal and diamond ring from the mid 20th century! Crafted from 18ct yellow gold and white gold top, this exquisite ring features a captivating 2.33 carat Australian solid natural black opal, showcasing a rare rolling red flash that is sure to mesmerize. The opal is flanked by sparkling 0.025 carat diamonds and adorned with graceful upswept leaf-shaped shoulders, adding lovely vintage appeal.

The opal is securely held in a handmade triple ridged four claw double gallery setting, ensuring its beauty is highlighted from every angle, while the diamonds are elegantly stepped in single bezel settings. Completing the design is a smooth 2.00mm wide half round yellow gold shank, stamped with a faint "18CT" mark denoting 18ct gold.

Upon purchase the vintage ring would be accompanied by a photographic valuation certificate for insurances purposes, carried out independently by a registered NCJV/FGAA valuer. *The insurance replacement value of the ring dated 4th of February 2025 was $5,065 AUD.

Solid (natural) BLACK OPAL of Lightning Ridge material measuring 11.48mm x 7.92mm, 4.44mm deep, oval cabochon cut featuring around 2/3rds of the top with a bright rolling flash of red colour, 2.33 carats estimated weight by calculation. *Indicative of its natural earth origin, there are a few embedded natural surface reaching sandstone features near the sides of the opal. Two DIAMONDS, single cut measurng 1.80mm single cut of G-H colour and VS-SI clarity range, 0.05cts total estimated weight

The condition of the vintage ring is very good. Besides general surface wear, the mount itself presents in excellent condition with settings unharmed and stones secure. Opal and diamonds are intact with no wear or abrasions evident. A wonderful vintage ring!
