A sweet little ruby and seed pearl brooch from the Edwardian era, c1910! Made of 9ct yellow gold, the dainty brooch features two natural rubies and eight little seed pearls. The rubies are claw set at the end of tapered and curved lines which are overlapped centrally, almost in a 3-dimensional design. Little seed pearls accent down the lines, graduating in size. The curved lines rest on a gleaming knife edge bar adorned with beadwork and fleur de lis like profiles at the ends - a lovely finishing touch! On the back of the piece is a secure pin clasp, as well as a safety chain/pin, for extra security. Sighted on the back is a stamp "S BROS" which is possibly either Sydenham Brothers or the Sheldon Brothers. Both were making jewelry in Birmingham, England in the early 20th century. No carat hallmarks are sighted to the brooch, however tests as 9ct gold.
An elegant and dainty antique brooch. A gorgeous little accessory on the lapel!
