A charming antique cross pendant from the late Edwardian era c1918! The cross is made of 9ct gold a fire gilding over rose gold giving the cross a buttery yellow hue and over time exposing the warm rose gold underneath. A stunning 'lily of the valley' flower motif adorns the front of the cross. Little white seed pearls rests in each flower and along the undulated leaf.
The 'lily of valley' flower often represented sweetness and a return to happiness in the Victorian language of flowers and the seed pearls often symbolize purity.
A lovely hand-engraved pattern decorates each end of the cross. Adding further charm and provenance to the cross is a hand-engraved message to the reverse of the cross; "To Thelma from Dick Xmas 1918". There is also a set of hallmarks - 'L' '9' 'B', and what appears to be a 'Swan' motif which is perhaps the makers mark. A sturdy gold-tone jump makes up the rest of the cross.
A charming antique cross steeped with sentiment and history. Perfect for day or night wear.
