A fancy vintage fob chain from the 1980's. The substantial 62+ gram necklace is a statement on the neckline and sure to please the rose-gold lover!
The attractive links make this necklace unique; elongated double bar with twist design in the centre alternating with a hammered-style belcher and fancy link ... lots of old character! Many of these old-style fob necklaces were made in the 80's, produced to imitate the original Victorian Albert chains. This one is a duplication from an original- cast assembled using original older moulds, or perhaps better described as 'reproduction'. Upon close view the cast assembly is noticed and has been priced accordingly. So many of the original gents Alberts were very short and not wearable around the neckline, this one measures a wearable length of 21" inches or 53cm.
English hallmarks are placed along the t-bar, difficult to decipher and likely transferred in the casting process. A XRF test indicates solid 9ct rose gold.
An antique gem-set spinner attached to front adds further bygone charm, it is also quite fitting. An intaglio "ABS" sardonyx displays to one side and bloodstone displays to reverse. No stamps to spinner are evident, an XRF test indicates 15ct gold.
Appraisal: Retail replacement- AUD $ 4,725, as at 10th November 2017. Upon sale of the necklace an up-to-date photographic appraisal certificate will accompany necklace, carried out independently, by a NCJV registered valuer/ FGAA gemmologist.
A beautiful necklace for the woman with distinct taste!
