A divine antique aquamarine brooch or pendant dating back to the Late Georgian - early Victorian period, circa 1830-1840! The piece features a glistening natural aquamarine gem in the centre which measures 16mm x 10.05mm. It's estimated weight is 5.63 carats. The faceted oval-shape aquamarine is eye-clean, it displays a beautiful pale blue colour with subtle green hue, it sits securely into a collet setting. A graceful repoussé gold frame of rococo design borders the aquamarine. The rich gold colour is reminiscent of pinchbeck material. There is a pin and C clasp to reverse, along with a small ring in which a further two rings maybe needed to wear as a pendant. The ring presently attached to brooch is very small and could also be latched onto necklace clasp, if this way of wear is preferred.
A gorgeous work of art from the 19th century and something special for the aquamarine lover!

The overall condition of the antique brooch is excellent. Consistent with age there is normal surface marks to gold, along with slight patina and minute nicks to facet edges and typical wear to aquamarine - more evident under magnification. There is no apparent damage to the gold or gemstone. Pin works well with good tension. A Georgian beauty to adore! |
