A charming vintage watch brooch from the Art Deco period, circa 1930! The timepiece is made of sterling silver. It is in working order - recently having a service by a qualified watchmaker.
The timepiece features decorative links sparkling with hand-set marcasite stones. At the top of the piece is a deco design bar pin that attaches to three decorative shaped links which are hinged together for flexible movement. Suspended at the bottom of the piece is a flip-top clock. The flip-top cover is pierced in a gorgeous deco design, it closes with a firm click. The clock dial is a subtle ivory colour with easy to read gold-tone hands and numerals. The dial is hand-painted with 'LUTON" and "SWISS" at the bottom. There is hand engraving along the sides of the watch case adding further elegance. The watch winds from the side - it's in working order and comes with a 6 month guarantee upon purchase.
The timepiece has a 15 jewel Swiss mechanism and is made by 'Luton'. A wind of the crown to kick start the cogs is needed each time it's worn. Inside the sterling silver case bears stamps "MADE IN HOLLAND", along with "STERLING" denoting sterling silver. There is a serial case number on the back "43377", also numerals "24" on the back of a link. The timepiece has a wonderful patina to the sterling silver, adding further texture and character.
The timepiece measures 6cm total drop and the case measures 1.40cm across. A pin and early revolver-style clasp securely fastens the brooch.
