A lovely vintage marcasite necklace from the late Art Deco era, c1930's! The necklace is made of sterling silver and features dazzling marcasite gems set in the front design of the necklace. The beautiful design is reminiscent of the Art Deco era with elegant curvilinear links in a subtle graduation. A fan and crescent design features to the centre of design and there is small marcasite encrusted adjoining links. Adding further Art Deco flair is the milgrain detail. The design flows beautifully and somewhat is graced with a hint of Art Nouveau. An original 'snail' style chain makes up the rest of necklace, bolt ring clasp attaches to the back of chain.
The piece is stamped "SILVER' to the reverse of centred link. Tests indicate sterling silver or thereabouts. A beautiful patina remains on the piece adding further depth of character. The piece can be polished to a bright silver look, however level of polish is a matter of taste. A shorter length at 15" inches (38cm) and depending on the neck size it may rest on or near the collarbone.
An elegant silver vintage necklace. A feminine vintage necklace suitable for day or evening wear, it would also make a lovely bridal accessory!
