A beautiful antique banded agate necklace from the Victorian era, c1900! Likely to be hailing from the Scotland, the necklace comprises of 31 banded agate beads of brown hues to black with milky white banding. There are smaller jet black cylinder-shape beads alternating along the necklace, except at the front where the largest agates are placed. A subtle graduation in the beads is lovely, ranging from 10.30mm smallest to 17.70mm largest at the front. Total length is 20" inches (50cm). The necklace is strung on a sturdy black colour string and threaded straight onto the sterling silver fittings - an original bolt ring clasp and large jump. The agates display a rich, glossy texture. The silver fittings are not stamped, however a test indicates sterling silver.
