A fantastic estate "lucky" spinning Zodiac pendant! Made of 18ct yellow gold, the petite pendant features a spinning Tiger behind a faceted pyramid-shaped crystal glass. The highly polished Tiger is engraved and appears to be holding a little diamond. The spinning is functional and when jiggled from side to side spins in fast motion, giving the appearance that the Tiger "floats" in the centre. A halo of twelve bead set diamonds sparkle around the border and white rhodium-plating highlights add a nice contrast to the pendant. The reverse of the pendant also has a crystal glass, the glass surrounds a gold disc which supports the back spinning mechanism. The pendant hangs from a tapered bail which is stamped "18K" "750" (denoting 18ct gold) and another stamp, possibly makers mark "BB". Chain is not included.
The tiger represents the third of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. The year of the Tiger is associated with the earthly branch symbol. The years of the tiger include 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022, 2034.
A wonderful pendant for that certain somebody with a Tiger zodiac... perhaps you?
