This stunning antique piece dates to around late 1800 to early 1900 circa, the feminine curvilineal style is reminiscent of Art Nouveau period. The versatile design can be worn as a pendant with the bail left on, or, converted into brooch with bail removed. Claw set centrally is one natural pink tourmaline gemstone which measures 6.80mm long x 5.20mm wide, approximate weight 0.90 carats. Surrounding is 13 natural seed pearls, slightly varying is sizes from 2mm- 2.5mm- set into organic and fleur-de-lis profiles.
The reverse of pendant/ brooch is stamped with an Australian makers hallmark of a 'unicorn', '9' and 'W'. This is the hallmark of T Willis and Sons Pty Ltd, Melbourne, used prior to the company adopting the Victorian Jeweller's Association mark in 1903.
The total drop of the pendant/brooch, including bail, is 47mm or 1.85" inches.

Upon close inspection there is a small split at base of end claw, can be fixed by jeweller if it bother's otherwise beautiful antique condition, light tarnish left, tarnish mainly evident around seed pearls. |
