An enchanting antique opal ring dating back to the Art & Crafts era, c1910's! A handmade ring of 9ct yellow and rose gold, the ring features a vibrant Australian opal doublet which measures 14.7mm long x 8.10mm wide. A nice elongated oval shape for the finger! The opal doublet is predominantly blue and features strong flashes of reddish orange and pink, along with lesser flashes of green, blue, mauve, and yellow. The edges of the opal have a slight foggy appearance which is likely due to water damage at some stage over the years. Albeit does not drastically affect the wonderful play of colour the opal has to offer. A timeless bezel setting displays the opal beautifully, along with a rope border. There are little leaf and scroll embellishments either side, adding to the antiquity charm of the ring. A 1.90mm wide shank makes up the rest of the ring.
The ring is stamped inside the shank, although difficult to decipher it looks to be "9CT", denoting 9ct yellow gold. Finger size measures '8 3/4' (USA) 'R' (Aus) and can be adjusted to a degree. Head of ring measures 16.70mm along finger x 10.00mm across and setting height is 3.77mm.
A charming antique Australian opal ring! Perfect for the lady born in October (opal birthstone), or for the opal enthusiast!
