An impressive cocktail gemstone ring from the Retro era, c1960! The classy ring is made of 9ct yellow gold and holds a good-sized colour-change imitation alexandrite also known as a synthetic corundum imitating alexandrite (in gemmology terms!). The attractive gem displays a rich purple colour which changes to a purplish blue at different angles. The faceted round-cut measures 12mm and the approximate weight is 6.30 carats. A minimalistic design shows the gem off beautifully, featuring a subtle twist at opposite shoulders. The shoulders are upswept forming three-claws either side of gem. The claws are placed on an angle giving the ring a slight twist to the traditional claw solitaire. A sturdy 2.40mm wide shank makes up the rest of ring. Stamped inside the shank "9ct" denoting 9ct gold.
A minimalistic design which would easily suit with other rings. Or just as nice worn alone...
