A beautiful antique banded agate necklace from the Victorian era, c1900! Likely to be hailing from Scotland, the necklace comprises of 31 banded agate beads of brown hues to black with milky white banding, and rich, glossy texture. There are smaller jet black cylinder-shape beads alternating along the necklace, except at the front where the largest agates are placed. A subtle graduation in the beads is lovely, ranging from 10.30mm smallest to 17.70mm largest at the front. Total length is 20" inches (50cm). The necklace is strung on a sturdy black colour string and threaded straight onto the sterling silver original bolt ring clasp and large jump ring.

Very good antique condition! There are a few shallow nicks to some of the beads which is usual for the age. Difficult to detect to the naked eye, albeit worth a mention. The thread appears firm with no fraying at the ends and the clasp is in good working condition. A wonderful antique agate strand to adore for the next century!
