A sweet little antique brooch from the Edwardian era, early 1900's! This adorable brooch is made of 9ct gold, and the gold colour glows with a pretty pinky-rose hue. The eye is drawn to the polished rhombus where there is a star profile accented with one pink paste and six little seed pearls surrounding. The elongated design is decorated with fancy repousse motifs of fleur-de-lis, crescents, scrolls and little granules. At a quick glance the overall design is almost reminiscent of a 'candy'. The back is hollow and originally would have been a small compartment with a glass and frame, used to keep a lock of hair or photo inside.
A metal pin and c-loop to the reverse make up the rest of the brooch. Stamped '9CT" and "A & C" to the reverse. The brooch is likely to be English origin, and possibly a piece made by 'Able & Charnell' of Birmingham (indicated by the 'A & C' stamp).
An attractive antique brooch. A gorgeous little accessory for the high neck collar, jacket lapel, or scarf!
