A timeless antique bangle from the Edwardian era, circa 1912! This antique bangle was made by early South Australian jeweller Frederick Basse, a prominent Adelaide jeweller in the late 19th century through to the early 1920's.

The very elegant design would complement other antique jewellery, or would look just as nice worn alone! The hollow bangle is crafted in 9ct gold, a lovely warm antique rose hue with a soft gleam. There is subtle remnants of yellow gilding inside the bangle adding further antiquity character. The bangle features one vibrant green paste stone which is bead set within a striking starburst design. A lovely vivid green radiates from the stone which measures 4.30mm diameter and is a faceted old round-cut. The green paste imitates the emerald gemstone. The bangle is a classic flat profile with subtle rounded edges, measuring 6.90mm wide. It is oval in wrist shape allowing for a relaxed fit, as well a hinged design which clasps on the side, and a safety chain for extra security.

There are stamps to the tongue clasp - stamped "9CT" and "BASSE". Frederick Basse, then later F. Basse and Co was a prominent South Australian, Adelaide jeweller in the late 19th century through to 1923. There is also charming old style hand engraving on the inside of the bangle - engraved  "J .S" and "21-8-12".  Likely to be the initials and perhaps birthdate of the original owner.

A beautiful antique bangle which would easily complement today's style just as it did 100 + years ago. Versatile and timeless to stack with other bangles or wear alone!
