A lovely nephrite jade and marcasite brooch from the mid 20th century, c1950! Crafted in sterling silver the brooch boasts a gorgeous green nephrite jade gemstone. The nephrite jade exhibits a distinct forest green with small black chromite inclusions indicative of natural untreated nephrite material. There is a nice waxy sheen to the surface of the jade and a lovely translucency. A gorgeous scalloped pattern borders the nephrite jade which is accented with sparkling marcasite stones. A pin and roller-catch is on the reverse of the brooch. The brooch is stamped "STERLING" to the reverse denoting sterling silver. A patina on the silver surface has been left, adding further depth of character to this lovely piece.
One for green jade lover, the perfect little accessory to add a pop of colour to that blouse or jacket!
