A wonderful antique bloodstone locket from the Victorian era, c1900! Made of gold filled shell and gilt metal frame, the colour is a warm rose hue to the front shield and a rosy yellow to the engraved back. Adorned and inlaid to the front of the locket is a striking piece of natural bloodstone. The flat bevel edge oval bloodstone exhibits a wonderful deep forest green with flecks of vibrant red. A rose gold shield plaque rests at the center of the bloodstone, engraved with "W Reynolds Bowden". The other side of the locket is adorned with stunning hand engraving of ivy leaves and foliage in wondrous Art Nouveau style. Inside the locket reveals a frame to one side and liners. A 9ct rose gold wire bail attaches to the top allowing for a chain of your choice to suspend from.

A unique bloodstone antique locket, perfect for any fob collector and would look lovely worn daily!

5.02 grams
2.60cm length (not including ring) x 2.20cm width, or 3.10cm total length with jump ring. Locket thickness measures 7.90mm
The antique locket presents in very good condition. Besides normal surface wear, the locket presents in excellent condition to the naked eye. There does appear to be an internal fissure to the bloodstone (seen under magnification), however it appears stable and was likely formed in the process of the gold plaque attachment. The locket closes neatly and the hinge operates well. A wonderful heirloom piece of antique jewellery!
