A lovely two-tone vintage English fob medal from the late Art Deco era, c1938! Made of sterling silver, the regal scrolled shield-topped medal features a stylized circular rim with a matching shaped solid centre panel, decorated with a 9ct rosy-yellow gold shield cartouche resting atop. The gold cartouche is engraved with script initials "WJR" which are likely the original owners initials. Beautiful hand engraved flourishes and patterns embellish the front of the medallion, adding a lovely decorative element to the vintage piece.
To the reverse bears a crisp set of English hallmarks denoting Chester origin, year 1938 manufacture, as well as makers marks "W.J.P", which is that of Birmingham silversmith, William John Pellow. A jump ring attaches to the very top, allowing it to suspend from a swivel or chain of your choice. The size of the medallion measures 3.80cm drop (inc jump ring) x 2.20cm wide
Today this charming two-tone vintage medallion would make a perfect pendant, layered amongst other antique necklaces, or just as nice alone!
