An elegant antique locket from the Edwardian era, circa 1910's! Made of 9ct rose gold, the lovely soft rosy hue has a subtle antique 'buttery' gleam indicative of antique gold. The simple but very stylish locket features initials "RL" hand engraved to the front-panel in fancy script font. The back panel is plain. The unique six-sided hexagon shape gives a striking look. Inside of the hinged locket reveals a lovely gold-wash finish with two generously sized spaces to store photographs. A ring and larger original jump ring attaches to the top.
The locket bears some stamps to the back; "9c" and another mark which is difficult to decipher, though is likely the makers mark. Partially seen is "ARRE", which is possibly the mark of South Australian jewellery firm Claude Sarre jewellers (c1910 - c1997).
Not shy on the neckline, the locket measures around 4.40cm total drop, and 10+ grams in weight.... a sturdy masterly made piece!
A beautiful locket, perfect for any antique locket lover!

The overall condition of the antique locket is good. The locket does bear miniscule dings to the front panel and light surface wear indicative of age, otherwise it is in perfect condition for the 100+ year age. The hinge and closure works very well with a nice click when closed and opens well. A wonderful antique locket! |
