A delightful antique turquoise tassel pendant from the Victorian era, c1870! Made of 18ct yellow gold, this gorgeous piece features a large dome which is expertly pave with natural turquoise stones and eleven lithe tassels dangle from below. The striking style of the pendant is reminiscent of the ornate and popular Etruscan revival jewellery (c1860 - c1880!).
The golden disc is adorned with hand engraved repetitive patterns and a twisted wire surrounds the turquoise dome. Smooth and shimmery foxtail tassels dangle elegantly from below, each meticulously graduated giving wonderful aesthetics. A decorative triangular-shaped repousse top and tapered bail makes up the rest of the pendant. Not unusual for the era and style, the piece is not stamped, albeit an XRF test indicates 18ct yellow gold.
Stunning on the neckline, the pendant is nicely paired with a gold serpentine necklace *sold separately
