A lovely antique monogram locket, dating back to Victorian era, circa 1880 or so! The classic Victorian locket features hand-engraved initials to both front and back. The front bears the initials 'SLE' and back 'EJC', both monograms are masterfully hand engraved in a Victorian leaf script. So elegant and not a run-of-the-mill font, I might add! There is a double line engraved border and bevel edge. The bevel edge is accentuated with typical Victorian indents, both to front & back and running along the entire perimeter. The indents have a wonderful patina which adds a nice depth of character and contrast.
The locket opens from the side, and the interior is hollow with inner frames if you wish to store a special photograph. The locket hangs from a large tapered bail, perfect for hanging from your favourite antique chain! There are no hallmarks, locket has been tested to sterling silver.
A gorgeous Victorian treasure to wear or collect!
