A fabulous Estate gold and diamond collier necklace from the late 20th century! Masterly crafted by French designer, Mecan Elde, this elegant collier is made of 18ct yellow gold and features one hundred and fifty six (156) fine white diamonds. The highly polished piece is accented with three sections of glistening pave set diamonds, totaling approximately 1.56 carats. The French collier, (also known as omega), is made up of twenty-one rounded smooth segments with an internal 18ct gold wire following the contour of the segments - the concealed wire allowing for a supple choker fit. Such a sophisticated and well thought out design! An integrated tongue clasp secures the piece, as well as two safety latches for extra security whilst wearing. Stamped 'MECAN' denoting French designer Mecan Elde, other marks sighted are the French 'eagle head' representing 18ct gold, and lozenge makers mark. Total approximate weight of the necklace is 43.44 grams.
The collier looks stunning on, sitting at the collar bone at a choker 14"+ length. The sleek and elegant design easily suiting a layered look with other favorites, or just as nice worn by itself, night or day!
