A pretty vintage amethyst ring from circa 1990 or so! This striking ring is made of 9ct yellow gold, and frames a pretty lavender amethyst gem at the centre. The amethyst is raised into a multi-claw setting and surrounded with a lovely filigree 'scroll' like border, an open basket undercarriage supports the setting from below. The natural amethyst measures 15.20mm length x 6.95mm width, and approximate weight is 2.80 carats. It has a gorgeous elongated faceted oval-shape which complements down the finger when worn. The amethyst displays a nice transparency and is a pretty lavender colour with natural internal inclusions indicative of earth-mined amethyst. There is a split-design shank and an upswept petite 'leaf' shape shoulder, a fine 1.80mm half round band makes up the rest of the ring.
There are English hallmarks seen inside the shank, stamped with an 'anchor' denoting Birmingham origin and '.375' denoting 9ct gold, the end 'date' letter is difficult to decipher.
A beautiful vintage ring, a perfect pop of colour on the finger. Sure to please any amethyst admirer.
