A rare and lustrous strand of natural pearls from the late Victorian era, c1900! Very rarely do we see natural pearls, as many pearls on the market today have an internal bead which is part of the 'cultured' process, (aka cultured akoya type pearls!). However these pearls are of natural growth and not assisted in the oyster shell by a human. All the pearls in the strand have been examined with direct x ray radiography - the only sure scientific way to confirm natural internal growth! A pearl authentication certificate carried out by the Australian Gem Identification Laboratory (GSL) would accompany the strand upon purchase.
The delicate strand consists of 423 natural pearls and has been newly restrung. The pearls range in size from approximately 1.00mm at the back to 4.40mm at the front. A beautiful lustre radiates from the front pearls which are a creamy white colour. The pearls vary from near round to round near the front of the strand and oval to semi-baroque seed pearls along the side and back of the strand. The natural pearl strand has a 9ct pale yellow gold tube clasp where a lever hook attachment securely clicks into place. The hook is stamped '9C'
The natural pearl strand is a classic 'princess' length at 44cm (17 1/4") inches.
A delicate and wonderful strand of natural pearls. Timeless and a rare delectable on the neckline!
