A beautiful antique bracelet from the late Victorian era, c1890! This detailed bracelet is a wonderful example of Pietra Dura mosaic stone art. Likely of Italian origin, the bracelet is made of 800 silver gilt and still retains a nice gold surface finish, adding a lovely depth of character to the piece. The eye is drawn to the five vibrant 'painting-like' oval panels consisting of natural gemstones turquoise, agate and jasper to name a few, all placed together precisely like a jigsaw to form a beautiful scene within a bevel border black marble plaque. A burnt orange fleur-de-lis motif adorns the center panel, either side panels and end panels are similar in their floral designs, however vary in gemstone colour and texture. Beautiful lacy filigree borders the bevel panels, and filigree links join the panels together forming a flexible bracelet. Disguised within one of the filigree links is a push clasp which fastens the bracelet together, it is stamped "800" on the tongue of the clasp. There is a safety chain for extra security.
Total length of the bracelet measures 20cm (8") long
