A wonderful multi-stone Scottish kilt pin from the Victorian-era, c1900! Made of 18ct yellow gold, the exquisite Scottish-themed piece features lots of detail, along with a striking three dimensional design. The carved and polished bloodstone agate and jasper stones are inlaid within the 'dirk' design. Quartz amethysts sprout from 'crown' profiles; the top and bottom amethysts are faceted beautifully in the shape of thistles and the centre amethyst is a round-brilliant cut (a later replacement and bears some nicks). The gold surface to the front of the piece is adorned with decorative hand engraving. Resting on the back is the pin and original c-catch clasp, which is also crafted in 18ct gold.

Scottish agate jewellery was made popular again in the nineteenth century due to Queen Victoria adorning Scottish jewellery and her frequent visits to her Scottish Castle Balmoral. For more information on Antique Scottish Jewellery head to the blog - Antique Scottish Jewellery
