This charming antique opal bar brooch dates back to early 20th century and is more than likely Australian origin. The eye draws towards the fiery opal doublet which displays a strong play of colour with the full spectral colours seen- blue, green, purple, yellow, orange, red. Adding to the beauty of this opal doublet is a on/off rolling red flash.
The opal is elegantly presented in an Edwardian mount and hand crafted in a 9ct subtle rose gold hue, the bar design features a floret either side of opal and a rope twist border. The opal is fully enclosed into a bezel setting with remnants of mil-graining along bezel edge.
There is a pin, which is not gold, and 'C' loop on the reverse, also attached for extra security is a safety chain/pin.
A charming.... & fiery piece of Australian history!
