A beautiful English antique cross from the Victorian era, c1884! Made of sterling silver, this superb antique cross is graced to the front with green gold leaf and rose gold floret appliqué accents. Bringing the little organic motifs to life is a textured and engraved surface to each... depicting real leaves and blooming flowers! Hand engraved stems and further patterning to the silver surface adds a delightful and charming look. The Fleur-de-lis ends to the cross, as well as the extruding corner points give a distinct finish to this one of a kind antique cross! A split ring and recent (non original) figure '8' sterling silver hook attaches to the top.
The cross bears a set of English hallmarks to the reverse; the "lion passant" denoting sterling sliver, the letter "k" in fancy script denotes year 1884/5, and an anchor which denotes Birmingham origin. There is also the makers mark - "T & Co", which I haven't been able to identify and correspond with any Birmingham makers.
An ornate antique piece sure to please any cross lover!

The overall condition of the antique cross is superb. Besides normal surface wear there is no significant dings, and the embellishes are all intact. There is is some surface darkening/natural patina evident, adding to the antiquity character. A lovely antique treasure! |
